IH'08 will be held at Hotel Mar Monte. Located on the East beach, Hotel Mar Monte is just steps from the beach, with a breathtaking view of the Santa Ynez Mountains.

You can also stay in the downtown area and take the Waterfront Shuttle (just 25 cents) every morning and evening to and from Hotel Mar Monte. Waterfront shuttle ride is fun! There are more dining/nightlife options near downtown as compared to east beach, but both areas are quite close by.
Travel Information
There are number of ways you can reach the conference venue:
Option 1: Fly to Santa Barbara Airport (SBA). From there you can take a taxi (~15 mins). Taking the MTD buses is another option (inexpensive but may not the most convenient one: take bus #11 towards Santa Barbara to the transit center followed by the Waterfront Shuttle). If you plan to drive around the area, renting a car is also a good idea.
Option 2: Fly to Los Angeles (LAX). Take Santa Barbara Airbus (42$ one way, 80$ roundtrip) from LAX directly to Hotel Mar Monte. Overall, this might be a convenient and inexpensive way to travel to the conference venue. The bus takes little less than 3 hours from LAX, but has a stop at Hotel Mar Monte - so it will save any local travel within SB. Renting a car from LAX is also an option. It will take 2 to 2.5 hours to drive depending on the traffic.
